we were promised jetpacks but created posters instead

Every now and then a band comes along that makes you feel, well, feel something. A band that breaks through the clutter of musical detritus to deliver a heartfelt, honest and holistic album. For us, the quartet from Glasgow named We Were Promised Jetpacks is one such band. Not only does their latest album, These Four Walls, send you on an emotional journey reminiscent of some of the great Seattle Sub Pop albums, it’s an album that combines raw indie enthusiasm with millennial euro angst.  Basically, they’re a little pissed off and we like that. A lot.

We were hoping to have an interview with the Scottish lads in this post as a precursor to their concert on Monday March 15th at the Rock House, but alas, that didn’t happen. But what did happen was something better. What happened was a social media crowdsourcing experiment that exposed some new folks to the sounds of quiet little voices and the rage of thunder and lighting. What happened was Fandom 2.0. What happened was us doing what we do best. Creating something cool for a cool b(r)and that deserves cool things.

What happened was a good ole fashioned rock concert poster contest. All created by Switch employees, we got twelve great entries, but only one can win $100 and tix to the show on Monday. So we need your help. Which one do you think should win? Vote in the comment section and we’ll add your votes to ours to pick a winner.  Here they are (Click on the image to view larger):

So  if you’re not doing something next Monday, and who are you kidding, chances are you’re not, head over to the Rock House to see a band you’ll be seeing in much larger venues in the years to come. It’ll be the best $10 you ever spent. Unless, of course, you’re counting your $10 bet on War Emblem at the Derby in ’02, then this will be the next best $10 you ever spent.
