Switch Digital Media Gets Busy w/ Out-of Home Advertising
The Switch Digital Media Group recently wrapped up a product shoot for Bud Light’s Digital Outdoor program. The assignment? Update Bud Light’s visual assets to match the current packaging and message. Switch also created a number of media elements to play on several full motion out-of home screens across the country.
We shot in both the Switch Studio and outdoors. Our weapons of choice were a Phantom High Speed camera to capture extra slow motion and a Sony HDW-F900 High Definition Camera to catch the real-time images. We mounted the HDCam on its side to help create content assets for the vertical Anheuser-Busch Times Square LED Board. The camera captured a wide array of table top and turntable product “Hero” shots.
The Phantom High Speed camera shoots tiff image sequences at 990 frames per second.
For the current Bud Light Times Square spot, we used these images to put it all together:
- a condensation background plate shot at 90 frames per second,
- a bottle captured at 30 frames per second with the HDCam
- and a water splash shot at 520 frames per second
The chroma key green prop bottle was filmed against a blue background so we could capture all the aspects of the motion.

The Bud Light :10 spot you see above is part of the Times Square rotation that’s playing now, but some elements of the shoot are still in production. They’ll be used as the Digital Outdoor campaign continues in Times Square, New York, Nokia Theatre @ LA Live, Los Angeles, Broad & High Columbus OH, LiveNation concert venues across the US, the New Yankee Stadium, New York and Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
