Carney’s Kids Fundraiser
On Friday, October 30th, Carney’s Kids held their annual fundraising event, “The Night of 1001 Laughs” in the Crystal Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Clayton. This is the 10th year of the Foundation, headed by KMOX’s own John Carney. This is the first year that The Switch was involved, and all of the Board Members were very grateful for the support we gave.
For this evening, Pat Ayres and the Print Shop produced prints that welcomed the visitors as they entered, and were hung prominently in the room, along with a 4’-0” “Carney’s Kids” logo that hung above a small stage set up for 3 stand-up comedians. We also supplied pipe and drape and a rear projection screen that scrolled through a PowerPoint showcasing the 6 charities that benefit from the money raised by the foundation.
Besides the stand up comedians, the night included a silent auction, a live auction, all you can eat buffets from 12 local restaurants, and lots of costumes. Switch was well represented that evening: Pat Ayres, Jann Cook, Alex Gioia, Sue Herzberg, Shelley Hibdon, Kristin Christy, and their guests all enjoyed the evening from the table donated to The Switch by the foundation. In addition, these fine folks appeared in costumes with a definite theme that smartly included the Switch dots! Very clever, indeed!
Thank you to all of you who attended, and Thank you to the Partners for allowing us to help out this group. The entire organization is volunteer, so the fact that we could take part in this event underlines this company’s belief in “Paying it forward”. Joanie Protzel, the President of the foundation, had so many nice things to say about The Switch, and we look forward to working more with Carney’s Kids in the future.
