Albert’s All-Stars
We all know about the impact that hometown hero Albert Pujols makes with his bat… but he makes an even bigger impact off the field through his charitable organization: Pujols Family Foundation. Albert and his wife Deidre have a daughter with Down syndrome, and their organization is based around giving hope and stability to families affected by Down Syndrome, as well as giving the same type of support to impoverished kids in their native Dominican Republic.
Switch has the wonderful privilege of working with the Pujols Family Foundation on a regular basis- both in St. Louis and in the poorest areas of Dominican Republic. Led by Video Producer Sue Herzberg we recently completed a video to be played on the MLB Network and Fox before the All-Star Game. The video features “Albert’s All-Stars,” a group of Down syndrome kids from the St. Louis area who get to be coached by El Hombre himself. Tony LaRussa and other former and current Cardinals were in attendance. The long version of the video (22 minutes) will be played on Fox Sports Midwest as one of there “Spotlight” programs. The first airing is tonight at 5:00 PM. See below for other times. And if you’d like to give to an amazing organization that benefits children right here in the St. Louis community, check out the website: http://www.pujolsfamilyfoundation.org/
